Madelyn | Milk Bath

YOU GUYS! I have been so excited to share this shoot with you ever since I took these images. Nikki wanted to use them for Christmas presents so I have been holding off for a while. I had so much fun shooting these with Miss Maddie. I have been dying to do a milk bath shoot for months!

This is my first milk bath shoot and I can’t say I wasn’t a little nervous about how it would go! I bought two gallons of whole milk and even some powdered milk just for backup. Basically, I bought a ton of milk. We took these at my house in my upstairs bedroom because it gets the most natural light. I laid down some trash bags under the backdrop just in case Maddie got to splashing. She didn’t though, she was perfect.

I started by pouring really hot water in the tub to combat the coldness of the milk. I heated one gallon of the milk to some extent but I was afraid that I would start curdling the milk. This should tell you something about my cooking skills. Then I poured the milk into the water and waited for some of the foamy milk to settle out. I ended up adding a little more hot water and used a thermometer to determine the temperature of the milk bath. Once we got it right, we placed the petals and the daisies in the tub and last in went baby girl!

I couldn’t get over how much fun Maddie had in the tub! She played with her flowers and even tasted a couple of them. The only thing she did not enjoy was when we tried to lay her down. She was not having any of that mess! I hope you guys enjoy these images as much as I enjoyed shooting them. The beautiful flower crown and flowers were purchased from Baskets & Bows! Make sure you like the Facebook Page so I can share more of my work with you!

The picture with Maddie’s tongue out is the first one I took! She was so excited!

Look at those long eyelashes! Maddie you are such a beautiful girl!

Mommy, I want to eat the pretty flowers too!

Fab? I am in love with these? Wondering how old Maddie is

    • Erin says:

Hey Sarah! Maddie was 8 months old in these pictures! I’ve seen them done all the way up to one year old and as young as 6 months.
